The ECU on an '86 in under the rear passenger seat, on the left (driver's side). Three screws: two on top, one on bottom need to be removed. Save the screws.

Just unplug (unscrew) everything from the harness, and you are set. While you are at it, grab the ISV, ISU, AFM, and anything else you can for spares. As always, you might want to attach a tag so you know what goes where.
