Hi Mike,

I once had this same thing. It turned out that the O2 sensor was getting shorted out. You could just check it by unplugging the 02 sensor, and see if the rich running symptoms stop.

On the fear and trepediation of AFM adjustment, I agree. Unfortunately, we sometimes don't have a choice. On the brighter side, it's a pretty hard thing to screw up. Putting a majic marker dot on the current position for a reference. The adjustments are pretty fine, a click or two clockwise will increase the tension and you should observe a leaning effect. I used to religiously glue my cap back on, but now find that is snug enough all be itself.
