Re: My 2 cents on head leaks and rubber studs

Good story ! I love it ! Everbody wants to be an engineer and they all have problems afterwards and come back looking for answers over here. We keep preaching but no one listens ! You should see the 2.1 I have here all apart. Resealed not long ago, rubber gaskets glued to the block using the Dirko whick is peeling off just by looking at it and between the head and gasket no sealer used at all ! It was leaking around the entire perimeter of the seal ! What a joke and the owner tells me it was a German VW mechanic who's been at it all his life. Well...........draw your own conclusions ! All exhaust head studs, bolts, and threads, kaput, valve ends dished in, valve adjusting screws worn down to the nut, bolts holing the thermostat housing had to be cut out, bolts holding the power steering pump bracket on, all three broke off, every hose connection to an aluminum nipple has so much corrosion there is not much of the aluminum nipple left to hook back on to, etc as I digress into depression. When I get done it will not leak ever again - I promise !

Cheers,
