Subject: Re: your favorite 12 V accessory

FWIW, I just purchased two LED meters and voltage regulators from cold fusion. One of my meters arrived with a missing wire, so I contacted the company, who in turn wanted to see a photo. I sent a photo to them, and three days later I had the replacement part. They also responded to my e- mail within hours.

The flip side to this is I contacted them about some presales questions and got absolutely zero response. Having service after the sale, to me is more important though.

I think these meters are a little overpriced, considering you have to buy a voltage regulator, but I think you're also paying for the small size. I'm going to mount mine in front of the sink for my auxiliary battery. Still torn whether or not I want to put one up in the dash for the main battery. I don't think I would want to stare at a red LED all the time.

I guess an alternative would be to mount two of them in front of the sink or other location, and then use a DPDT switch to go between the two. Keeping an eye on both batteries to me is really important. Generally when one battery starts to go, it draws from the good battery, and you end up killing both. Catching a problem at the first sign, could save you dollars. Catching a bad alternator can also save you from being stranded as well.

Overall, I think these meters are a good investment.

Best,
