Been off list, so I'm coming in late and maybe this has already been stated... You can do this without disconnecting the coolant hoses at all. that's what I did, and would recommend that unless you are going to replace the coolant hoses. Big nut holds the central threaded tube into the engine. Loosen nut, then unscrew threaded pipe from engine. Slip O-ring in and reverse the process to reinstall. I used the top of an oil filter which I cut off said oil filter, as a jam nut, along with the actual big nut, to loosen the threaded pipe from the engine.
