I have been using the newer hoses on the older vans.  The very end of the
hose (the last 1 1/2") is the only part that is larger so that it can fit
the plastic pipes.  You can cut the little piece off.  Then the end of the
hose is the same size as the old hose and can work on the metal pipes.  I
have these newer hoses in stock for $49 each.  They are 025121102A and
025121062C.  If you want to order them you can do so via my webstore or just

I'm planning on replacing my cooalnt hoses on my '84 Westy (with metal
coolant pipes running to the radiator).  The two big hoses that are on the
right of the engine compartment  (p/n 025 121 062 and 025 121 102) are NLA.
These same hoses apear to be available for the Vanagons with the plastic
pipes runnign to the radiator.  Is that the hoses that people are using for
their vans with metal pipes?  If so how do you make them fit? Thanks Pascal
