This reminds me of a moment in my life, living under severe economic stress (flat broke) and was driving an old Nash I had paid $10 for. It laid down a tremendous smoke screen going down the street. I was stopped twice by the cops. In each case I pointed to the new head gasket laying in the back seat and told them I was on the way to my parents place to pull the head and fix it. Both times they let me go. Finally did pull the head, it was a basket case, buttoned it up and parked it. Sold for $50, probably the only car I ever owned that I sold for more than I paid for it....
