Well... When I was a kid I transplanted a 2.4l Porsche motor and 5 speed from a 914-6 in a rusted old Beetle. The Porsche was mid engine and when I was finished, running perfect I had 5 reverse speeds!!! So... I took the diff covers off and 'flipped' the ring gear to the other side of the pinion and voila- 5 speeds ahead... So if one had the time...had the money...just maybe it could be remotely possible... Jeff
