I think the official name for them is "roll pin.  To make sure you
get the right american equivalent size, I'd find a nail or other
round shaft that is very close to the diameter of what you need and
take that to the hardware store.  Measure the length as well.  If
they have metric all the better, but just to cover your
arse.......  The roll pin is designed to go in fairly snugly(the
split is to provide tension to keep the pin in place.  I'd buy the
size you think you'll need and then the size just above and just
below it.  These items are less than a a dollar a piece.  Good luck
