As I understand it (if I really do) after talking to John at aircooled.net, it's the cost of the 3" pipe bender that is so prohibitive. Not many folks own these and that's why when you get into the 3" dia. things get exponentially more expensive. 2" a different story altogether. Fairly common and most steel fabricators have these and can do special projects fairly easy.
