I am a ambitious do it yourselfer and was thinking about trying to make a set of bull bars for my van. I have all the tools to do this, but before i start my trail and error learning method I was wondering if thier was anyone in the boulder-denver area that has a set on thier bus I could look at. Maybe aircooled.net or van-cafe. Could meet somwhere buy you a beer or something. Let me know. Adrian

Adrian,

Check out the following link...

Here you will find some pics and specs with dimensions for building one of the best Australian designed ones. I have an identical one to this on my T3 and it is sturdy, light (aluminium alloy), and looks good. Bull bars on Australian T3s are common place so designs are good and not just show.

They are also a far more serious protection bar than those brush guards....but be aware...bull bars can be a double edged sword. While they can protect you vehicle in some instances, they can also cause greater damage to the front of a vehicle in other circumstances. Luckily I have not been in that situation with the T3 although a previous '76 T2 double cab I had had an ill fitting bull bar on it when I purchased it. The truck had recently hit a kangaroo and the bar bent back because of poor attachment by the DPO* causing greater damage to the front of the vehicle than the 'roo on it's own would have caused....but it was a generally rust free truck and still worth buying. Had that beastie for 12 good years....
