And speaking of doobies........

Liner notes on my  "......the very best of...." Doobie album says:

"....the group name had changed to The Doobie Brothers (widely reputed
to be a reference to a joint or marijuana cigarette)......

Were the "Doobie Brothers" really named after the "spliff" ?

I find it hard to believe a major label would let that idea fly.

I wonder what they were told?
