Nope. Long distance transmission of power has already been dealt
with. Fellow by the name of Tessla. His idea beat out the first guy
on the block. Fellow by the name of Edison.

Hydro-Quebec is a massive hydroelectric company. Most of their power
generation occurs in the northern (essentially uninhabited) regions
of Quebec. They generate enough electric power to take care of the
entire province, with extra for Ontario and the US.
