Subject: Throttle cable repair

Thanks for the suggestion. I looked in vain for a cable coupler at Lowes and several auto parts and hardware stores. No luck. I did rig something up on the end of the cable that I crimped on and then added some JB weld to see if it will hold for 2-3 days until the replacement cable comes in. I found that the local VW dealership wants about $38.75 for the cable and the boot on the end runs $30.00 (not gonna pay that for a rubber boot). I found a cable from a local import shop that will be in 1 day sooner than the dealership for $25.00. I am still in search of the boot that goes over the end of the cable. Does anyone have a good used one for sale or know of a more affordable source for one? Mine has been damaged for years now but I want to keep the end clean/dry to get the maximum life from the new one. Thanks

**************************************
AOL now offers free email to everyone. Find out more about what's free from AOL at http://www.aol.com.
