Sounds like the ignition switch to me. It's $12, not hard to put in. There are good instructions in the archives. I just went through this a few months ago. If the starter works fine when it starts, but not when it doesn't want to start, it's probably not the starter. You might look at engine ground connections, but I suspect the switch.
