Hi Volks,

Japanese motors are commonly replaced at 40,000KM. They are then crated and sent by the container load to North America. So you should see these motors available at moderate cost by 2009.

BUT... the one thing NO-ONE has seen is a mention of what the performance will be. Heck; I haven't even sen displacement figures, never mind torque or HP. It looks pretty big in the pictures, but if those wheels it's driving are on 12" rim then it might be smaller than we think. If what Subaru is building ends up being a 1200cc engine for an economy car it won't be able to push a vanagon very well.
