Its not the tire size that's causing your problems. We have three vans here with three different tire sizes and they all track very well.

Maybe you should check your alignment Mad. The old tires may have worn in a way so as to mask the deficiencies of the chassis.

I always get an alignment when buying new tires, just to protect the investment, and I think it helps my tires last a long time.
