I would imagine that the woman in question had other qualities that the guy found attractive and also had a thing for pink.

So, it probably isn't all about the pink. And, he must not have had much of a problem with it if he did the pink thing to the inside of his van - he must have been thinking she was "the one."

But, now he has to explain to prospective "replacements" how he came to have the all pink interior. Saying "I love pink" almost certainly dampens the interest of many women, and telling the truth, "I did it for the last girlfriend" means most won't want to ride in it and be reminded of his level of interest / commitment to the last girlfriend, so it has to go.

Doesn't sound like the next one is going to be that much better, but to each his or her own.
