This is gonna be a bit long winded, but you asked! BTW, I'm a Systems Administrator and I've worked with many different kinds of pcmcia cards. What I personally recommend, if you want to stay w/ hard wired connections is a non-dongle pcmcia card. I have experience w/ a linksys 10/100 +56k modem pcmcia card and it worked great. I also have lots of experience w/ dongle type cards and those were mostly bad experiences so I stay away from those. Also any of these<http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/category/category_slc.asp?CatId=588>should work just fine and have gotten quite cheap! Sounds like you like the hard wired connection. Have you thought about wireless? It's the same size card as a 10/100 pcmcia card, and there are tons of open wifi networks available virtually anywhere you go. Just a thought. If you have any questions, feel free to pm me.
