Harriman state park is right there. Acouple camping areas in the park. The appalachian trail runs right thru the park. Their is an outdoor zoo in the park that the trail goes right thru. These animals are not trapped and caged but are animals that were injured and then rehabilitated but not released into the wild again because of various reasons. Very cool walk thru. Then the trail goes over the bear mt. bridge. It used to be the longest cable suspention bridge in the world until they built the godlen gate. It spans the hudson river. Then jump into your vanagon and cross over the bridge and cruise up and down rt 9 in NY. Very old and very quaint little towns scattered all along the hudson river. Sidewalk cafes, shopping for the misses. An all around great senic area. You won't be bored. |
