I've never had trouble with the Holland or the Lincoln. I have an EZ Pass,
though, and don't go through a staffed toll booth.

:::You're right about the Lincoln Tunnel going into NYC. I was driving my
:::1982 Diesel Westy on the way to a Grateful Dead show years ago and was
:::caught in a long line of traffic going into the tunnel with no turn outs
:::or turn around available and running almost late for the show. When we
:::got to the entrance the attendant said, "That thing doesn't have a
:::propane tank on it does it?". Without thinking I just said, "No, and it's
:::empty." and kept going. Yes, it truly was empty because my beer was
:::getting hot!

:::My guess is the presence of propane is the issue. Could that be? I dunno.
:::
:::I do know that to the best of my knowledge full Westys, or rather any
:::vehicle
:::with propane tanks cannot travel through the Lincoln Tunnel and Holland
:::Tunnel entering NYC. At least that was the case when I lived there
:::according to
:::signage. Kind of a PIA travelling north to the Bridge.
:::
:::You would see those LARGE RVs used for TV and Film shoots in NYC with "NO
:::PROPANE ON BOARD" written on them. I always assumed that was so those RVs
:::could
:::travel through the tunnels.
:::
:::Somewhere someone decided the propane was a greater liability than
:::gasoline
:::I'm guessing. I wonder what the fine $$ would be if you're snagged in the
:::tunnels with propane on board. And I'd be curious to hear others'
:::experiences.
