Hi All - List members with long memories may recall that my 85 Westy engine died near Reading CA some time back. I am now glad to report that Metric Motors has installed a Boston Bob 2.1 engine and the vehicle is ready to go. My daughter Rosa will be picking it up this coming week. She will be driving over to Arco, ID, near Craters of the Moon National Monument. This is a brown Westy with Tennessee plates. If you see her, say Hi. Any advice on the route from Redding to Arco would be appreciated, with emphasis on well traveled roads that will not require running a new engine at high speeds. My dealings with Metric Motors in Anderson CA have been conducted by phone. They were easy to deal with and they seem to be very knowledgeable of Vanagons. The total cost of parts and labor was reasonable. They were recommended by BusBoys in Redding. If I lived in the Redding area, I would go back. Ron |
