Sounds like what happened to my clutch. I suspect the pilot bearing. For me this meant that I had to replace the clutch (perhaps fine but why not replace it if you're in there) as well as the pilot bearing (also something stanard and easy to replace) and most importantly the input shaft. This was also pretty easy (somewhat tricky but still easy) but you will need to find an input shaft which might also be tricky. Basically, the input shaft was welded to the pilot bearing which basically makes the engine/transmission welded together regardless of what your clutch is trying to do.
