Jeff,, Like Trimlines & 500 sets, different wheels all mount in a similar manner but requires different methjods depending on design. If you mean the stock Vanagon alloy wheels, they do not require longer studs or bolts. They do, however, require the used of conical seat lugnuts/bolts to achieve safe attachment. The conical seat nuts/bolts "reach in" further and engage more threads. This is how VW was able to ffer alloys side by side with steel rims w/o having to change studs every time a customer opted for alloys. If you are thinking of using something other than stock, you need to analyze each application separately. Some will need different lugnut seats, others will require longer studs/bolts. Then you also need to worry about the size and offset...
