All my vans are covered by Progressive. Totally online. No issues since I have been with them. It is more money than others, but seems not to care about my Westy Syncro. When I travel I carry an extra RV insurance. I have found that some tow companies will not tow if you are a fully loaded van and that is OK with me. I don't know the RV insurance company off the top of my head but my girlfriend has them insure our fifth wheel horse trailer as well. dylan ----- Original Message ---- From: Karl Mullendore <groups@WESTYVENTURES.COM> To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Sent: Friday, March 16, 2007 11:59:27 AM Subject: Esurance blacklist for VW Westfalia campers! Folks, I've had my auto insurance through Esurance for a few years now on my Westy (full camper). Recently, I received a request to 'update my info' on the cars I have insured with them. When they 'discovered' that my Westy has cooking facilities, they said they could "no longer insure" that vehicle and that I would need to find other insurance elsewhere. I sent multiple requests for dialog with those that make the decisions on what is insurable vs non-insurable, no response whatsoever. I am at a loss as to how in the world having a stove in my van could possibly affect it's insurability. SO, if there is anyone else here insured with these folks, beware, when they find out you may be looking for insurance elsewhere. I'd enjoy compiling a list of folks who are insured with them, no names, just year/make/model would be fine. The strange thing is, EVERY other company I've gotten a quote from has stated 'no problem' with insuring the campers, even when I state that it has a kitchen. So I'm wondering why Esurance is singling out one vehicle? Second part: I'd like to hear some names of insurance companies anyone is pleased with, ones with great customer service, low rates, etc. State Farm, Progressive, Geico already have some serious 'red flags' in the customer service and payment of damages areas from feedback I've read and heard. Please feel free to p-mail me with your thoughts, especially if you've found a great company to deal with. Thanks, Karl
