With the front locker engaged, turning is not done on dry pavement- easily. With the rear locker engaged wind up and scrubbing is noticeable, on dry pavement. On snow is not a big deal. I don't drive around with the front or rear locker on when on the highway, I don't think anybody does. Even when the road is snow covered I wouldn't use it. I only pull the knob out when going slow and off pavement and when I think it will be needed. So for me, loss of steering control is not an issue. Of course there are situations like when traversing side hills where you may not want the diff locked. I think the locking diff, and the low gear, is what makes the syncro a more than just an 'all wheel drive' vehicle.

Personally, I'd prefer a locking diff over an LSD.
