I had the same issues with my daughter's 86. I have done the following: replaced one of the two oil pressure sending units: replaced the two o-rings at the oil cooler; & replaced the rear main oil seal. It now stays clean, or reasonably so.

Okay my 88 wolfsburg weekender has black spots all over the back from what I have been told is "blow by."

Does that mean I need a new engine?

I am trying to decide whether to just find another or get this one fixed.

I also have some body damage, but before I trade my great beach car in, I wanted the wise advice of the list.

thanks,
