  Nate,

I believe the cross-member the Bentley recommends for a single point
lift at the front of the Van, is the rear-most one, just in-front of
the fuel tank on a 2WD Vanagon.

I glued-up a stack of 3/4" thick plywood that fits into and fills-up
the rear-crossmember. Added a disc that fits the lift-pad on my
floor-jack and jack-away. Check the lift pad on the jack to ensure it
is not touching the fuel tank and chock the rear-wheels well. Use
Jack-Stands under the corner jack-locations, lower Van onto them, check
for security and remove the floor-jack if needing the room to work. The
usual caveats for safety, use at your own risk!

  I think we're on the same page, because that sounds like what I'm thinking of.  Is that your own design?  Do you happen to have a picture showing the jig?  Or perhaps a link.
