Chris and Jenn from www.westaygone.com ended up getting over to German Motors in Arcata, CA who was able to determine that it would need a new pilot bearing.

Me being an aircooled guy I guess I forgot those waterboxers don't have a clutch cable (doh) but Chris and Jenn didn't waste too much time looking for one after my 'tip' on the phone. =)

Thanks to those who replied, they ended up camping in the parking lot across the street from the garage last night and German Motors is going to sneak them into their schedule this morning so they can get back on the road.

I stopped by and chatted for a bit last night, and they are a really cool couple with a really fun boy named Bryce. I hope they do well in the rest of their travels, and ideally they have no further technical issues.. (and thank goodness they broke down where they did and not in the middle of nowhere.)

www.westaygone.com - take a look at their site and leave some comments, as they have been really good about keeping it updated.

Cheers, Chris 81 Aircooled westy
