Hi Kim,

This sounds a lot like my gauge...even after a fill-up, it never reads quite full, and it drops like a stone rapidly to 3/4.

I do, however, know my MPG (20), and knowing the amount of fuel the tank holds (16), have arrived at a "safe" figure to drive before I know I need to get it filled again. Generally this is 250 miles (which uses 12.5 gallons of gas). I always reset the trip meter at every fill-up.

HTH,

Ellen Lola, '85 Vanagon ASI

So I've searched the archives and can't find the answer.

A new sending unit doesn't change the issue which is: with a full tank, the guage never reads full and I'm not sure what to trust when it comes to what's reserve and what's empty.

Anbody resolved this before?

Thanks,

Kim Springer
