I know there is some who may disagree with me, but a competent automatic transmission shop should be able to take care of things without melting down your credit card too much. About five years ago, I had to have an independent shop (recommended by the tech at my local Tires Plus) work on my transmission because the valve body had become clogged. As I remember, the bill was under $200.
