James-- If you follow behind the Hale-Bot comet into the stratosphere you plug that into the receiver at the mother ship when you arrive. Actually, I think what you have there is a plug for the VW dealer to plug into their diagnostic computer back in the mid-1980s. I think those diagnostic computers no longer exist, although I may be wrong about this latter part. There should be a little rubber cap to cover the opening on this so the metal prongs don't have an opportunity to ground out by hitting something metal. You can just wrap it in electrical tape to cover it to keep the prongs out of harms way. Best, Jeff 83.5 Westy LA,CA
