Just for info, I know that a buddy's 86 Canadian Panel Vanagon doesn't have
either a clock or tach.

For those interested in upgrading their clock equipped models to the tach
style with LCD clock, I have written a detailed step-by-step procedure on a
PDF at my website.  After doing this twice to my 2 84's, I figured it was
worth write-up to help others:
