Subject: audiovox cruise control issue
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"; format=flowed

I was heading out on a weekend trip recently and had a problem with the audiovox CCS-100 I installed several months ago. It didn't work at all, but it's "on" light was coming on when I turned the unit on. I stopped and decided to try to troubleshoot it before it got totally dark. I really didn't want to drive 3 hours on Friday night with no CC. It passed all the tests in the audiovox manual. they seemed to test all the connections and wiring but not the actual unit. I got back on the road and it still didn't work. I resigned myself to having no CC on this trip. The manual for the CC says that you should turn it on and wait a few seconds before engaging it. I remembered that I rushed that process, hitting set right after turning it on. So I decided to give the unit a couple more power cycles as I drove on. sure enough, after about 10 minutes I felt the gas pedal fall out from under my foot as the unit took over on an uphill section. The unit worked flawlessly for the rest of the trip. So maybe it just got really upset by my rushing it to engage so quickly after turning it on, and needed some time to recover from that? anybody else seen this kind of symptom? I just would like to know if it isn't going to be reliable for me.

Edward
