I second what Nathaniel said. When the summit is 'breached' on the Ferndale-Petrolia road the view is just breathtaking. I've never experienced such a high view so close to the Pacific ocean coast. In my mind it was more exhilarating than the first view on the Hunter-Liggett to Hwy 1 road south of Big Sur.
