Some people like Optima. I have 2 Odyssey's, (this one : (http://www.odysseybatteries.com/battery/pc1200.htm) both the same, one for start, one for aux. Look in the vanagon.com archives under Mark Drillock: good posts: 4 Jan 2005, 24 June 2005, 4 July 2005 8 April 2006 and 27 May 2006.

All these were searching for his posts with "aux battery." There are probably more with "rewire" or something like that.
