I haven't used Seafoam but my mechanics at the Honda dealership where I work do recommend it. I have used Marvel Mystery Oil and ran it for 1000 miles in the crankcase before an oil change. I normally use Mobil 1 for 6,000 miles and replace the filter (Mann/Mahle) every 3,000 miles. I was surprised to see the color of the old oil that came out of the engine after running the Marvel Mystery Oil-much darker than after any other oil change. It did quiet the engine's lifters somewhat and no oil leaks developed from possibly removing some of the sludge. It had been 60k since my rebuild with nothing but Mobil 1 after engine break in. I am assuming that the sludge was old from engine oil passages that were inaccessible or components that were not replaced or cleaned during the rebuild. There was discussion of other worthwhile additives for the fuel system. I had previously used only Techroline (Chevron product) and had been fairly satisfied that it did what it claimed to do. My best results were with a product (line of products) that is available at many auto dealerships in my area. It is from a company called "BG" and is the fuel injection service. It is a two part cleaning. An additive that goes in to the tank and a aerosol from a liquid that is delivered via compressed air to the intake at the throttle body. I added this myself at the dealership followed by a manual cleaning with a brush to remove any stuborn carbon deposits. My idle smoothed out and dropped 50-75 rpm's. I do not think that there was any significant build up of deposits in my case as I believe in using a good quality, name brand fuel with a good amount of detergents. I have seen, all too often, the problems caused by cheap gas (clogged injectors, dirty plenum and throttle body and clogged EGR ports). Really, the savings on cheap gas is short term in most cases when you factor the lost fuel economy and repairs/maintenance that you will face in the long term.
