Subject: A Westfalia from Westphalia?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII; format=flowed

Spelling geek trivia for those who wanna know.

How come the Westfalia came from Westphalia? From a couple of confirmed sources who grew-up in the Westfalen Region of Germany, the error or spelling gloss is pretty simple to understand.

The plethora of maps, published in english, utilized an anglicized spelling of Westfalen (Westphalia) to depict this region of the Fatherland. Amazing, the power of the pen in the hand of an editor! Maps only approximate the territory they attempt to represent. Get out on foot, walk the land and talk with the locals who are in the "gnosis"........

Thanks to Tom, Ralf, Bjorn & Loren to whom a dose of gratitude is due for their diligence and care in bringing this oversight into the light.....

Regards not anglicized Fill Z. Campbell River, BC ---------------------
