vehicle : '82 GL problem: key won't go into the ignition lock It's becoming difficult to get the ignition key into the ignition lock. Key turns fine when it goes in, but sometimes it'll go in and sometimes not. Irritating. May be something to do with the fact that the van was stolen a year or two ago, and the thief probably started it with a screwdriver. At any rate it feels like one of the little thingys that should be pushed aside by the key as it goes in ( I don't think it's a tumbler ) is occasionally getting stuck and not letting the key in. And more so recently. I think it's something on it's way to gettting permanently stuck/broke...know what I mean? Anyone taken apart the ignition lock recently? Anyone got any suggestions? I'm off to get some graphite to see if that's the simple/cheap answer I haven't tried the archives- no access at the moment BillM '82 GL I4 |
