I'm using the "Euro" 21 watt single filament bulbs in the rear running light positions on my mom's van and Dixie, available at Lordco. On the 84 I've jumpered the fog light sockets and am running two of the regular running lights per side. It makes a much wider light. The ideal might be some combination of the above.
