Subject: Where does the signal come from for a tach
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="Windows-1252"

Hello all,

I admit to being pretty challenged by wiring diagrams, etc. So, while I have the Bently(s) I haven't a clue as to where do I connect a wire to get the signal to send to my "New" tach. I just got hold of the "head" and am replacing the one in my GL ('84) that has the analog clock. So, I know you must bring a wire from the distributor (or the coil?) up to the dash to supply the signal, but I don't want to fry anything by giving it a 'too strong' signal and I think there are some higher voltages coming from the coil and the distributor.

So, could someone just tell me which terminal to connect my sending wire to in the engine bay...? I bet I can get the dial moving on my own, though it does have a weird little 4 prong plug (female) and of course, I don't have the male end, I don't think...

I am sure this is dead basic for most people, but somehow I always mess up any electrical work I try, so I am going to ask first this time rather than doing it real wrong and melting my "New" tach.

Thanks in advance, if anyone can help.

Don Hanson
