Hopefully this is a valid question for the group. I'm a new member with
a 1986 Vanagon Westfalia that has 225.000 miles (two engines &
everything else repaired as needed). The body had rust, but was
repainted and looks good - as of today. It has been well maintained and
continues to be quite serviceable. My wife and I would like to have it
go anoher 100,000 miles RELIABLY - therefore, we are seriously
considering having Go Westy of CA do a complete mechanical do-over
(engine, suspension/steering/bearings/brakes/clutch, cooling system,
fuel system, etc.). Yes, we know this will not be cheap - after
receiving printed estimates, but can justify the expense, IF the job is
well done.

By all accounts Go Westy knows VW vans and my experience (purchasing a
few parts & phone contacts) has been positive, BUT I'm trying to find
some first-hand/"local knowledge" before taking the plunge. Have any of
you dealt with Go Westy for major on-site repairs and what do you think
of my project in general?

I would welcome any insights from this group, as I'm under the
impression that the above is a list of vanagon owners who care and know
a great deal about their vehicles.
