I have been using the standard group 41 battery for years. Best part of Wal-Mart is that if it fails within two years, you can get it replaced for free and the warranty starts again. The real trick is to avoid over dischrging it. That appears to be instant death for this battery.

I only us the fridge on 12 volts during extended trip use. There is no sense in opening the door to change the mode. The propane use is so small, there is no benifit to 12 operation except for the safety issues.
