Well today I changed out (in warranty) my 28 month old Die Hard in the 89 Westy in prep for leaving for EveryBus tomorrow morning. No more trickle charging all week to make it through a weekend campout. BUT At start up the engine hesitates like the old Vanagon syndrome and only goes smoothly after a few turn off/ons of the ignition switch. Rough idle momentarily and no/low power on acceleration unless I do the switch thing. IIRCC, this van has the factory tantalum cap fix. Cables tight and uncut, unharmed. Terminals are clean and shiny. What gives? ...no other work done on it other than changing out the dying battery. ECU resetting itself? ANYWAY I will drive it 350 miles Thursday and then see how it reacts on Friday morning. Just looking for opinions. Happy camping hope to see some of you at EB. -- Stephen Chillicothe OH |
