Oh Oh I know the answer to that one!

The LT is nothing like a
Syncro.  You sit on top of the engine (2.4L I6) like you do in a
Pinzgauer then there is a 5 speed gear box with no differential, like a
`typical` North American truck.  This gearbox is controlled by the
regular looking stick closest to the driver seat with the same pattern as
a Vanagon 5 speed.  There there is a transfer case, an American built
New Process 208 which is used in the Jeeps and some Dodges from the
80s.  This is what the automatic looking leaver controlls.  All
the way forward is 2H, then 4H, N and 4L.   High ratio is 1:1
and low is 2.61:1.  From the transfer case one axle goes to the front
and one to the rear to a solid axle that contains a 5.2x:1 ratio ring and
pinion.  This coupled with 235/85R16 tires gives you a 115km/h top
speed and a slower than the 2nd coming low speed.
