After having been spun off from the spinoff of the spinoff, the MG name and
a few remaining assets are now owned by a Chinese firm, who supposedly plans
to reintroduce a Chinese made MG coupe and convertible (new models, not
retro MGB's). They state that they will offer only the coupe in the U.S.,
and assemble it here. (Of course this may never come to pass; several
Chinese auto manufacturers have announced planned U.S. distribution over the
last few years, and the stated timeframes have come and gone.)
