Jeffrey,

All depends on how much "camping" you will be doing inside the van. If you're going to be sleeping only in the lower bunk, using a tent for sleeping, doing your cooking and most of your camping outside the van, then I don't see the need for a pop top at all, other than a storage area (which is what I use it for!). AT 5'2", I get along just fine with the pop top down, but anyone taller appreciates the higher ceiling when it is popped. I don't have a traditional Westy top that only pops up on one end, but an ASI top which pops up on both ends, just not as high.

Was the base model a pop-top? My kids (and I, I admit) would like the pop-top, but I'm starting to think that it's not worth the problems and expense, especially since I'm expecting that most of the "camping" they'll do will be while we're driving. Anyone have thoughts/comments about how great it is to have a pop-top, and how you couldn't imagine life without one?
