joy, i dont know what you mean by "taking out your upper bunk".... i assume your talking about unsnapping the mattress pads, which is pretty much self explanatory.. but your not going to gain a whole lot of room.. you might try to use some of those rubbermaid low profile plastic storage bins - the kind that are designed for using under your bed at home.. i dont know how tall they are, but they might fit up there with the mattress pads removed and the poptop closed.
