Hi,

Here's a possibility for your next trip for services from Algodones.

We spent last Sunday night at the "Sans End" RV Park in Winterhaven
(just east of Yuma).  Get off at the Yuma Ave exit from I-8 eastbound,
take left turn north over the freeway and go east for about half a
mile on Winterhaven Drive.  It exists mostly, the proprietress told
us, for folks seeking health care in Algodones.  It was $25 per night
with electric and water hookup.  Much less expensive than any place I
know of in Borrego Springs.  And while it's an RV Park with the
expected lack of privacy, it's not any worse than most places in
Borrego Springs ... including the county park campgrounds which are
$tupid Expen$ive for being non-private campgrounds!!!


Here are some general comments on San Diego/Imperial county:

Crosswinds come with the territory.  They are lesser, or greater.  But
almost never absent.  And vanagons are brick-shaped balloons in the
crosswinds.  On this last trip we especially noticed that the
turbulence from following large vehicles are as bad as, or worse, than
the local ambient crosswinds.

What do you have under the hood to get 24 mpg?  We get 20 mpg at best
(in our '87 Westy Vanagon).

Drivers in San Diego County are Ignorant, Selfish, and Dangerous.  I
guess Imperial County gets spillover of the nasty drivers from San
Diego County.
