You have to make/get a ball on the shift bracket. it is the same size as the ball on the beetle carbs. Soooo.. you cut one off a old carb linkage with enough of the steel bracket and brase it in the proper place. I have been told someone makes bolt on replacements for the ball ( carburator parts, but i have yet to find it).

Mine was rusted and snaped off when i went to replace the cable. The lever unbolts from the trans to make repairs.

My guru had some old carbs and we cut and brased to the lever. @ years latter it is still working fine
